Robby and Alex met in college (Olivet Nazarene University) when Alex was on a recruiting visit to try out with the basketball team. It was homecoming weekend, and Alex took notice of Robby the night of the game against Point Loma Nazarene University. He took a liking to how Robby played and would make comparisons to how they were very similar on the defensive end of the court. This immediately gave Alex someone to compete against on the team. From there, they slowly became best friends outside of the court, but always competing in anything you could in a sports and athletic setting against one another.
Traveling became a big commonality that the two loved doing and would draw them closer as friends over the years as they would both go on very different pathways after college. Alex to San Diego and then Florida and all over the Middle East for deployments and work trips, and Robby to Colorado for work and new career pathways and soon enough, now the start of his beautiful family.
Yearly snowboard trips would allow for them to keep in touch and allow for their friendship to continue to grow.
To this day "AK and RobbyG" reminisce about the wild stories of the past and bright ideas of the future. Never having had a dull moment for a second, Alex is excited to extend this momentous responsibility to his best man and best friend.
Keiton Stedman - VIP
Keiton Jesse is Alex's cousin through his father's remarriage to his stepmom, Heidi. Keiton has been a huge part of Alex's life especially when he moved back to Indiana after his freshman year of college. Their bond really started when Alex would visit for holidays his senior year of high school while living in
Saratoga Springs, NY with his mom, Joy. He would go to Indiana to visit and had a young cousin Keiton that loved being around him (or loved his cell phone, we still aren't completely sure to this day as Alex always had the cool phones that Keiton was obsessed as a kid) and it led to a long and unique bond. Alex looks at Keiton like another little brother. They did everything together when Alex was home in Indiana and Keiton was pretty much inseparable from him when around. As Alex was going through a lot mentally about his future and career pathways prior to joining the military, just trying to figure out what he wanted in life, Keiton was always there and gave him a sense of purpose and responsibility at the time that he hadn't had before as he was always the younger brother.
Alex wanted to be able to acknowledge "KJ" as a brother on this special day being one of the most impactful people in his life and being a big reason for Alex succeeding through a tough part of life when he was making that transition to adulthood. The mutual impact of their relationship and brotherhood is something that will last forever between them.
Jaedon King - VIP
Jaedon is Alex's younger brother. Jaedon is a soft spoken and amazing young man who currently plays football for the University of Louisville Cardinals. While Alex and Jaedon don't get to see each other as often as they would like to, they are sure to make it count when they do. Endless inside jokes, back and forth banter and love of sports means there's never a dull moment and always something to talk about. The amount of joy Alex has in having Jaedon as a brother is unmatched. Alex is beyond proud of the young man Jaedon is and continues to become. It is a privilege to have Jaedon be a part of this special day as one of the most important people in Alex's life. The two of them will likely spend the majority of the night on the dance floor, look out!!
Emma Bridgeforth - Matron of Honor
The oldest of the Boehnlein sisters. Emma is the most patient person you'll ever meet! Patient with her classroom of 2nd graders, patient with her family including Sydney's nephew, Gray and niece, Emelia, and patient growing up with two younger sisters watching her every move. Emma is always positive, has an ever flowing list of ideas and imagination running through her head and hates conflict (always the harmonious peacekeeper in the family). She's the goofy, easy going addition to this special day!
Kaycie Boehnlein - Matron of Honor
Have you ever met someone who just gets you? That's Kaycie - the middle sister of the Boehnlein girls. Growing up, Sydney was the kid sister that was 4 years younger than the older two. Kaycie and Emma "terrorized" her...their favorite game? Zoo. Which meant trapping Sydney (the animal) between two laundry baskets and tying it together with a dog leash. But as we grew up and out of the house, Kaycie became not only a sister but a close friend and confidant. She empathizes with your struggles and is the first to celebrate your victories. There's no doubt that she'd be a VIP on this special day.
Rachel Meyer - VIP
Ever had a random roommate your freshman year of college turn into one of your best friends still 13 years later? Sydney has. They say opposites attract in a relationship....that definitely applies here. Rachel is the logical thinker, introverted, anti-hugger to balance out Sydney. Across many states and seasons of life, their friendship has remained intact and strong. Rachel's intelligent brain, calm demeanor and determined work ethic made her a great veterinarian now residing in Chicago, but her knack for helping pets and their owners and handling whatever life throws at her makes her an excellent one and an even better friend. Can't imagine this day without her in it!
Laura Anderson - VIP
This girl belongs on a poster for kindness. Laura is who you call in any and every situation and she is there, no questions asked. Laura and Sydney's friendship also started freshman year of college in the same dorm w/ Rachel and has grown in the 13 years since. They've been through times of questionable fashion choices and hairstyles (aggressive side bangs and all clothes from Forever 21) along with freezing their butts off walking to frat houses while drinking cheap liquor out of a water bottle. Not the finest moments but a right of passage nonetheless.
Nowadays, their conversations are about what shows to watch while spending cozy Friday nights at home, married life, and Laura's adorable son's (Barrett) obsession with trash trucks. They've grown up and grown together regardless of distance. Every situation is better if Laura is in it and every person is better if she's around, including this celebration.
Janiah King - VIP
Janiah is Alex's only sister and also the baby of the family. Her sense of humor and spirit for life make her a blast to be around and she is one person that can bring out the inner child in Alex. Alex has a soft spot for his baby sister as all big brothers do.
Janiah is currently attending Ball State University in Indiana which keeps her from being able to see Alex as often as they would like. On this day Alex would like to recognize his sister as being one of the most important people in his life and including her in his and Sydney's celebration
Grant Touma - Officiant
Alex and Grant met while playing basketball together in college at Olivet Nazarene University near Chicago. They would often compete after class playing pickup basketball at the campus fieldhouse. They were cordial and aquaintances of one another mainly through common friends and playing together, but they would reconnect years later in Tampa, Florida. By chance, Alex was stationed in Tampa for the Navy and invited Grant out to a game night at his apartment complex. Not long after this time, Alex went through a breakup where he essentialy moved in with Grant on a whim. They would go out line dancing anywhere from 3-4 times a week at the local bars and played volleyball for fun and over the next couple years spent a lot of time together. Grant became a huge part of Alex's life during this time and a crucial person that Alex was able to lean on while journeying through life up to meeting Sydney. Grant and his soon-to-be wife (at that time) Mikayla would be witnesses in Alex and Sydney's courthouse wedding and Alex would soon become a groomsman in Grant and Mikayla's wedding some months later. Alex and Sydney could think of nobody better to have officiate their wedding. Grant and his wife Mikayla have been nothing short of great friends, supportive and huge positive influences in Alex's life and Alex and Sydney's relationship.
